Pokémon is a Japanese anime television series in The Pokémon Company's media franchise. It premiered on TV Tokyo in April 1997 and comprises eight sequential series in Japan, adapted from main Pokémon video games. The original story followed trainer Ash Ketchum and his partner Pikachu, while the 26th season introduced protagonists Liko and Roy. Internationally, the series is divided into 28 seasons.
