The Porsche 911 is a family of two-door, high-performance rear-engine sports cars introduced by Porsche of Stuttgart, Germany, in September 1964. Now in its eighth generation, it uses a rear-mounted flat-six engine and usually has 2+2 seating. The series developed from air-cooled to water-cooled engines with the 996 series in 1998. Porsche 911 models have also competed extensively in racing, including world championship events and endurance races.
