The green anaconda, also called the common anaconda, common water boa, akayima, or sucuri, is the boa species Eunectes murinus. It is among the longest and heaviest living snake species and is a non-venomous constrictor. It lives in South American tropical rainforests, usually near shallow, slow-moving water such as streams, rivers, and flooded grasslands. It spends most of its time in water but also occurs on land in thick vegetation.
