Vasa is a Swedish warship built between 1626 and 1628 on the orders of King Gustavus Adolphus. Dangerously unstable because of excessive weight in her upper structure, she sank on her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. Salvaged in 1961 with a largely intact hull, the ship and its artifacts have informed research into 17th-century naval warfare, shipbuilding, sailing rigs and daily life. Vasa is now at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.
