Yuriy Ivanovich Semenov was a Soviet and Russian historian, philosopher, ethnologist and anthropologist. His work included the history of philosophy, the history of primitive society and the theory of knowledge. He created the globally-formation, or relay-stadial, concept of world history. Semenov held doctorates in philosophy and historical sciences and was a Distinguished Professor at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
