Bernard Boursicot, born 12 August 1944, is a French diplomat involved in an espionage case with Chinese Peking opera singer Shi Pei Pu. Boursicot said he believed Shi, who performed female roles, was female. Their 1986 trial drew public attention in France because of the alleged sexual subterfuge. The affair later loosely inspired David Henry Hwang's 1988 play M. Butterfly and its 1993 film adaptation directed by David Cronenberg.
