RAF Boxted was a Royal Air Force station located 4 miles (6.4 km) north-northeast of Colchester, Essex, England. Opened in 1943, it was used by the United States Army Air Forces and served as the airfield for two highly successful USAAF fighter groups in air-to-air combat. After the war, the Royal Air Force used it for jet aircraft testing before it closed in 1947. Its remains are now mainly agricultural fields, with a private grass airstrip and museum.
