Fisherman's soup, or halászlé, is a hot, spicy paprika-based fish soup in Hungarian cuisine. This bright-red dish is prepared with generous amounts of hot paprika and carp or mixed river fish. It originates from the Pannonian Plain, especially the Danube and Tisza river regions. The soup is also popular among Danube Swabians, who call it Karpfensuppe, and is served in parts of Croatia under several names.
