California Redemption Value

California Redemption Value (CRV), also called California Refund Value, is a regulatory fee paid on recyclable beverage containers in California, United States. It was established by the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act of 1986. The program has been administered by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) since 2010. A 2022 state Senate bill extended it to additional beverage types, effective January 1, 2024.
