Lake Murray is a reservoir in South Carolina, United States, impounded in the late 1920s to provide hydroelectric power. Fed by the Saluda River, it was formed by the Saluda Dam, officially called Dreher Shoals Dam. The lake is named for project chief engineer William S. Murray. It is also used for recreation, including fishing and boating, and contains Dreher Island State Recreation Area in its western part.
