Empire is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. Its population was estimated at 65 in 2021, and it is part of the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area. US Gypsum operated Empire as a company town from 1948 to 2011 before closing its mine and the town. Empire Mining Company bought both in 2016, again making it a company town and partially reopening the mine and community.
