The 23rd Infantry Division "Ferrara" was an infantry division of the Royal Italian Army during World War II. It was a mountain-type infantry division, with artillery and logistics moved by pack mules rather than the horse-drawn equipment used by standard infantry divisions. Named for the city of Ferrara, it was based in Bari. Most of its men were recruited from Bari and the Altopiano delle Murge region.
