  • Egyptian Mythology

Shezmu, also called Schesmu or Shesmu, is an ancient Egyptian deity worshiped from the early Old Kingdom period. He was an Underworld judge of the damned and was associated with ointments, perfume, wine, embalming, protection, and violence. Linked with festivities, dancing, and singing, he was also said to slaughter and dismember other deities. Shezmu fought and defeated Apep during Ra’s nightly journey through the underworld.
