Python of Catana was a dramatic poet from Magna Graecia who lived in the time of Alexander. He accompanied Alexander into Asia and entertained the army with a satyric drama, Agen, during Dionysia celebrations on the banks of the Hydaspes. The play ridiculed Harpalus and the Athenians, and fragments are preserved by Athenaeus. He is unlikely to have been the same person as Python of Byzantium, an orator serving Philip II.
