Metrioptera brachyptera, commonly called the bog bush cricket, is a species in the family Tettigoniidae. It occurs across most of Europe, except the Iberian peninsula, and is typically found in bogs, marshes and other wetlands. Its body is brownish with green elements, and its wings are usually short, though long-winged forms occur. Males attract mates with a repeated "zirr" song.
