Black Lake is a lake in northern New York, United States, and the largest lake in Saint Lawrence County. It lies south of and parallels the Saint Lawrence River for many miles. Formed by melting continental glaciation around 12,000 years ago, it receives water from several sources, chiefly the Indian River. It drains through the Oswegatchie River to the Saint Lawrence River. The Mohawk name Kanientàrhón:tsi means “lake is black.”
