Pluto Kuiper Express was a proposed interplanetary space probe developed by NASA after originating with Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists and engineers. It was intended to study Pluto, its moon Charon and one or more Kuiper belt objects. The project began in 1992, underwent several names and planning changes, and was cancelled by NASA in 2000 because of its expanding budget. Its team later helped develop the New Horizons mission.
