Monoglycerides, also called acylglycerols or monoacylglycerols, are a class of glycerides. They consist of a glycerol molecule linked to a fatty acid through an ester bond. Two types can form because glycerol has primary and secondary alcohol groups: 1-monoacylglycerols have the fatty acid attached to a primary alcohol, while 2-monoacylglycerols have it attached to the secondary alcohol.
