The Beurré Bosc, also called Bosc or Kaiser, is a cultivar of the European pear, Pyrus communis. It was first cultivated in Belgium or France and is named after the French horticulturist Louis Bosc. The fruit has a long tapering neck, russet skin, warm cinnamon color, and soft, juicy texture. Its white flesh is denser, crisper, and smoother than that of Williams or D'Anjou pears, and it is suitable for poaching.
